Gwymon is proud to announce Lleuwen’s new single Lili Wen Fach. The recording of three new versions of Nantlais, Mynyddog and Joseph Parry’s songs at Bryn Derwen studios were made under the careful production of Dave Wrench and Lleuwen. The single was recorded live on a wintery afternoon and as well as Lleuwen on guitar and vocals, the band comprises of Owen Evans on bass, Andy Hay on percussion, Jochen Eisentraut on the accordion, Dave Wrench on the vibraphone, and Steve Eaves playing the dulcimer. Lleuwen’s arrangements mark another new direction for the artist who refuses to confine herself to one specific style. Last year Lleuwen and her band performed in various festivals around the world; at the Ollin Kan in Mexico, Interceltic Festival of Lorient, Genting Jazz Festival in Malaysia. Besides performing in Ronnie Scotts and being a prominent artist in the London jazz scene, Lleuwen also supported the folk artist Eliza Carthy and is collaborating on Breton folk songs. The Presenter and DJ Ian Cottrell said, Lleuwen is back! And thank God. She lends herself to traditional songs as if she’s been performing them since their composition. Compared to Penmon, she moves into the territory of indie/folk musicians such as Feist on this single showing a new direction for Lleuwen and an interesting addition to her already varied body of work.
