Brecon Male Choir-Voices of the Beacons
Brecon Male Choir-Voices of the Beacons
The forty strong Choir draws its members from the ancient market town of Brecon and the communities that lie in the northern shadow of the Brecon Beacons. They include many from the farming community as well as local businessmen and recently arrived retired folk. To some, Welsh is their mother tongue, to others it is a challenge, to all it is a pleasure and a passion to interpret the spirit of an extensive repertoire of traditional songs, modern musical numbers and welsh male choral classics.
They have appeared at the Festival of Male Choirs at the Albert Hall ten times and have sung in many other prestigious venues including The Millennium Stadium, The Wales Millennium Centre and the cathedrals at Liverpool, Worcester, Southwark and, of course Brecon. In 2007 the choir celebrated its 70th birthday with a Grand Concert in aid of local charities thus continuing a long tradition of service to the community. They regularly perform at civic, military, and cultural events and are very popular at weddings. They have enjoyed memorable foreign tours to the USA, France and Ireland.
