Born in the Nantlle Valley in Gwynedd, that notable part of Snowdonia which also gave us the likes of Bryn Terfel, Rhys Meirion and Bryn Fôn, Robat Arwyn now lives in Rhuthun, and is the conductor of the famed Côr Rhuthun. But it is as a composer that he is best known, one of the most prolific and popular composers in Wales today. There is hardly a choir in Wales which does not have at least one Robat Arwyn song in its repertoire, and the strength of his appeal is evident in that soloists in many genres also revel in his songs. His compositions have a broad appeal, to all ages and tastes, and he has that rare ability to create a melody which has instant appeal, and stays in the memory. This compilation brings together 19 recordings of choirs and soloists and ensembles as a celebration of the art of Robat Arwyn, including ‘Benedictus’ which was a hit for The Priests, and ‘Anfonaf Angel’, the haunting song which will now always be linked to the Wales Air Ambulance service.
