Casgliad 50 Sain

As part of Sain's fiftieth year celebrations the label is releasing a special collection of 50 songs plus 4 bonus tracks for Christmas.

The songs have been selected to represent five decades of music that has been an accompaniment and soundtrack to many Welsh people since 1969, when the company was founded by Dafydd Iwan, Huw Jones and Brian Morgan Edwards.

The collection starts naturally with the song Dŵr by Huw Jones, Sain's first single released on October 9th, 1969, and ends with a special version of Dŵr by Tara Bethan and the Llareggub Brass Band.

On October 6th a special evening was organized at Sound Studio with the Llareggub Brass Band, Tara Bethan and Mared Williams. The night was a 'live' recording session for an EP of some of the Sain catalog classics specially arranged for the band and Tara a Mared by Owain Roberts. The session was also streamed live on Recordiau Sain's YouTube channel by the Antena crew, and the video of the night can be seen on YouTube/Recordiau Sain

The four songs that have been included on the Sound 50 collection as bonus tracks are a completely magical version of Chwarae Dy Gêm by Mared Williams and the Llanreggub Brass Band, Chwarae'n Troi'n Cwerw and Yma o Hyd - which are instrumental versions by the band and an enchanting and contemporary version of Twr by Tara Bethan and the Llareggub Brass Band.
