Lleisiau Mignedd - Dyrchefir Fi
Sleeve notes by Dafydd Iwan:
This fine choir of female singers from the Nantlle Valley in Gwynedd, the land that has Snowdon framed at its Eastern side and the golden sands of Dinas Dinlle at its Western extremity, is as good an ensemble as you will hear anywhere. They are not a large choir, but they set themselves very high standards, and have a love of music and singing which gives their art an extra dimension. But it is essentially music for pure enjoyment, rather than any elitist pursuit of excellence.
Their first CD on the SAIN label was released in 2002 to mark their 21st anniversary as a choir, and was very well received. This second collection celebrates their triumphant visit to the 2008 Pan-Celtic Festival and Oireachtas at Donegal, where they won five major prizes in 6 competitions, including the Festival’s Best Choir award, when Ysgol Glanaethwy were a brilliant second.
Under the baton of Ceren Lloyd, Lleisiau Mignedd present on this CD the choir’s recent favourites, featuring three of the fine soloists within the choir, and we know you will derive hours of pleasure from it.
