Rebecca Evans - Rebecca

Rebecca Evans - Rebecca

The debut album by one of Wales’ best young opera stars, with guests and orchestral accompaniment.

With: Leah-Marian Jones, Chris Warren Green, Daniel Hughes, Gareth Small, Della Jones, Bryan Davies +Mark Thomas Studio Orchestra

Rebecca Evans was born in Pontrhydyfen and trained as a nurse before friends encouraged her to move into professional singing. It was a fortuitous move, leading to early success in 1991 as Rebecca won the Best Welsh Singer prize, which is awarded only once every three years by the Arts Council of Wales. While gaining an increasingly high profile on stage, Rebecca also worked for television, contributing to programmes by internationally acclaimed artists like Dennis O’Neill and Bryn Terfel, who was one of her main supporters at the beginning of her career.

The rise of this talented singer has been astonishing, and has provided the ideal platform for a series, which could combine classical and popular music with the latest available technology and effects, which resulted in releasing this album on CD.
