Estrons - C-C-Cariad!
The exciting Cardiff based group, Estrons, will release their first single, ‘C-C-CARIAD!’ on Monday 3 November.
The release with be the first of the brand new Selar Singles Club, which will see Welsh contemporary music magazine, Y Selar working in partnership with Rasal record label to launch a debut single by a promising act each month.
The single will be launched officially as part of a gig to celebrate Y Selar magazine’s 10th anniversary in Aberystwyth on Friday 31 October.
The songs theme is very ironic considering the recent developments in the life of the groups lead singer, Tali Källström, who gave birth to her first child a few months ago.
“We recorded just before Tali fell pregnant” said Estrons guitarist, Rhodri Daniel, in an interview for Y Selar’s new issue which is published on 31 October.
“We’d had enough of hearing songs about love, so we decided to write a song about divorce! It was a bit of a joke, but it’s quite a fierce song, and good to finish off a set.”
“The song is about a mother telling the father, you take the kids, I’ll take the cat and dog … and then a few weeks later Tali’s expecting a baby! It’s quite funny. ”
Although the members are experienced – Rhodri was a member of Lampeter outfit, Java, a few years ago whilst Tali was a member of The Threatmantics – this will be the first single for their most recent project, which encompasses the aim of the new Singles Club.
“Y Selar has always provided a printed platform for new music between the magazines covers, and as we celebrate the magazines 10th anniversary, we decided to take this one step further with the Singles Club” said y Selar Chief Editor, Owain Schiavone.
“The idea is to release the debut material of some of the most exciting artists we come across, which will hopefully catch the attention of record labels who will take them on to the next step of releasing an EP or album.”
The single will be available from iTunes and other digital music outlets from Monday 3 November after the official launch at the ‘Selar 10’ gig in Aberystwyth’s Great Hall on Friday 31 October. Sŵnami, Yr Eira, Ysgol Sul and Sgilti will also be performing at the event.
