Glain Rhys - Atgof Prin
Originally from the Bala but now living in Cardiff, Glain first released her own material on the compilation album ‘Sesiynau Stiwdio Sain’. During the last year Glain has been busy working on material for her debut album due for release in July on the Rasal label by Sain Records. Glain has been singing for as long as she can remember, competing at Eisteddfodau, singing with the local Aelwyd and in various groups and choirs in school. For the last two years she has been studying ‘performance’ with University of Wales Trinity Dewi Sant in Cardiff and will graduate this month. Since bringing the band together for the battle of bands competition at the National Eisteddfod of Wales in 2016 Glain has been experimenting with musical genres, composing and recording material for her new album – she explains; ‘I compose my own material and it varies in genre but I suppose it tends to veer towards folk – I’m inspired to write from personal experiences and from events that happen around me day to day.’
Amongst her long list of influences she names Caryl Parry Jones, Siân James and Gwenan Gibbard.
