1970, the year he won both the Singer of the Year accolade at Llangollen and the Blue Riband at the National Eisteddfod. His radiant personality and the ease with which he communicates with audiences of all ages soon assured him a constant flow of engagements, not only as a singer, but also as a presenter, on stage, TV and radio. Cefn Gwlad, the S4C programme on Welsh rural life, and presented by Dai Jones, has led to a string of popular Videos and DVDs, and his S4C series “Cefn Gwlad” is one of the longest-running TV programmes of its kind in the world. His BBC Radio Cymru request programme Ar Eich Cais is also very popular, as well as Rasus on S4C which he has presented for S4C for 12 years.
He is now one of Wales’ best-known entertainers, and the key to his success is his ability to remain in touch with people wherever he goes, his natural wit and sunny disposition, and his forthright honesty.
