The brothers Osian and Meilyr Gwynedd and their friends Rhodri Sion and Kevin Tame grew up together in the village of Waunfawr, a couple of miles from Caernarfon. They formed a band in their early schooldays, and adopted the local nickname for Waunfawr people “Beganifs” as their band name. As their style evolved, this was changed to “Big Leaves”, though their songs remained mostly in Welsh. Rhodri was the lead singer, briefly accompanied by Nest Roberts, with Kevin on bass and Meilyr as a virtuoso lead guitarist, and Osian on a multitude of instruments. Osian and Meilyr now form the basis of the band “Sibrydion“, and continue to work as full-time musicians.
